Astreon New Features and Enhancements

Relocation of fuel consumption settings to the fuel sensors settings

The fuel consumption settings have been relocated to the Sensor Properties section for fuel sensors. This will make configuration more streamlined and easier to configure (all within the fuel sensor itself, as opposed to a different tab altogether). This will be especially helpful in situations such as machinery that has several fuels tanks, etc.

We also added the ability to bind sensors to other sensors (engine sensors to FLS, engine efficiency sensors to the selected engine sensors), extended the fuel consumption calculation by math for FLS, and сhanged the import and export process both for sensors and units, so that you could, for example, import the previously exported units correctly.

Note: Current fuel consumption settings were retained and are now available for viewing and editing in already existing fuel sensors.

The Fuel consumption tab will be still available for now (temporarily). A detailed tooltip has been added for each setting with its current location in the fuel sensors.

Blocks management on the Dashboard page

Now you can easily customize your dashboard layout by hovering over the specific block title and clicking/dragging any block to any place within the dashboard.

Dashboard enhancements

The following interface changes have been implemented:

  • Modified the elements’ width, added indents
  • The pie charts are displayed clockwise

New filter by geofences in the Images table

You can download photos of a specific period and location by each client with this new feature (if the client is marked on the map as a geofence).

Application example: company required proof of completed work by photo. Each employee has a tablet/smartphone with Astreon Mobile installed. The employee captures before and after photos using the Astreon Mobile app (or White labelled partner app). You can now generate a group report and apply geofence and unit filters to this report to look through the photos in a more convenient way.

New limits for time-consuming requests

The limits for the time-consuming request rule have been changed. Prior to this change you could launch only 1 time-consuming request per resource (cultivations search, recalculation, creation of compound cultivation, etc.). Now, this limitation only applies to the specific user’s session but not the entire account resource. It allows multiple dispatchers to work in one resource simultaneously.

Autocomplete for the Fuel consumption rate

When you registered the fuel consumption rate you had to register the cultivation manually. It was time-consuming and caused potential errors. To avoid those problems an autocomplete for the fuel consumption rate field was added. The data is automatically retrieved from the entries the user utilized in the current session (up to 5 entries). The list of available values will be shown after clicking on the fuel consumption field.

Creation of fuel fillings for the fleet units in Fleetrun

A new fuel fillings page was added in Fleetrun. Creating and editing fuel fillings allows you to obtain more detailed fuel expenses tracking. This works similarly to the creating and editing of services.

On the new Fuel fillings page, you will see the list of all the fuel fillings in the fleet.

Line items library: a new line item ‘Fuel’

A new fuel tab is available in the line items library. You can add fuel types that most frequently used in the fleet there. There are two ways to do so:

  1. Select from the preset types
  2. Add the fuel type manually

With this feature, you can create fuel fillings faster by choosing the necessary type.

Fuel units of measurement

A selection feature of the fuel units of measurement has been added. A user can select a preferred unit of measurement for fuel. This is done via the administration panel on the fleet settings tab.

Order creation/editing dialog improvement

The display of custom fields in the order creation/editing dialog box was revised and the ability to add them was removed within these dialog boxes. Custom fields can only be added in the setting section. This prevents potential errors and streamlines how these fields are added (within a designated area, Settings).

Reports improvement

A column has been added for custom fields within all compatible report types. Adds more functionality to reports and opens up new ways to view your custom field data.

Interface redesign

General interface improvements/updates: updated color scheme, replaced certain interface elements, and improved animation. The interface is now adapted better to your web browse size.

A.I. Connected Dashcams are here to stay

Artificial Intelligence has vastly matured in the past few years. In today’s competitive market, A.I. chipsets are coming down in cost while increasing in performance and reliability.  What does this mean to you the fleet consumer? More reliable and accurate devices at a lower cost of ownership.

Despite COVID-19, A.I. Dashcam deployments are up 237% year over year.  Why?  This blog post will address the reasons why our industry needs A.I. Dash Camera Telematics systems and their inherent benefits.

Then vs. Now

When they first became publicly available, commercial dash cameras were predominantly used by the public safety and transit sectors.  They were cost prohibitive, looped raw video, and didn’t provide the clear and immediate ROI that private sector fleets require, and as such were seldom deployed.

Today’s landscape has changed drastically. Dash cameras have not only become more affordable, but cellular data costs have dropped considerably (more data for less).  Dash cameras have evolved beyond simple video recording, now with built-in tracking capabilities, serving as better telematics tools, and ultimately eliminating the need for a 2nd JBUS or OBDII device in most installations. The output data is on par with the best telematics devices in the market today, vastly simplifying the solution while keeping the TCO (total cost of ownership) at an all time low.

Read more on our A.I. Dashcamera page or watch the video below to learn more about specific feature benefits and capabilities.

Zero Fraudulent Insurance Claims – Absolve Your Drivers

Over 80% of all accidents involving passengers and trucks are the fault of passenger vehicles. This is a significant number.  Protecting your drivers is important, providing proof of not-at-fault ensures they continue driving (productivity) and that you are retaining talent (finding good drivers is always a challenge).

Sideswipes are becoming an increasing problem with trucks/tractors, and the driver often takes the blame.  With side mounted cameras you can shed light on these instances and prove that your driver is not at fault, avoiding costly fines and insurance premium hikes.

In addition to automated video notification upon critical events (such as impact or harsh events) we also provide a live, real-time view of the driver, the road, and all other connected cameras.  Take video management into your own hands by proactively preventing costly and life threatening incidents, while reducing management costs in the process.

Reward your Safe Drivers

We put valuable driver scorecards and rankings in your hands. With this information you can incentivize your drivers to improve their driving habits with tangible incentives.  These programs are wildly successful in all businesses which have implemented them.  On average, incentive programs achieve a 35% increase in driver safety scores across the board. The result is safer drivers and reduced insurance claims through Gamification: where drivers compete on their scorecards, aiming to achieve a higher score than their peers.  Everyone wins.

Enhanced Training

Dashcams help Fleet Managers improve driver coaching.  Important safety infractions cause automated video capture and upload, providing great coaching tools to Drivers.  Special notation and review flag functions make it simple to manage inbound video events.

Our Dash Camera systems have audio recording capabilities, which can be enabled or disabled by Fleet.  This an exceptionally useful add-on which helps to determine the cause of harsh driving events, be it road rage, distraction, phone use while driving, or other unsafe events.

Enhanced Security

Astreon Dashcams have an optional Parking Mode which keeps the camera on during parking events.  This enables capture of accidents that happen while vehicles are parked.  Hit and run or bump and run events trigger an automatic video upload, providing proof and details of the incident.  Our video is clear enough to read license plates, providing the best proof for insurance providers and protect against fines.

Reduce Insurance Premiums & Streamline Claims

Companies are increasingly instructed by their insurer that they need to operate some form of dash camera system.  Rate discounts can be made available when you employ a dash camera system.  On top of this, video evidence is regularly accepted by insurers when submitting claims, proving your driver is not at fault, avoiding fines and preventing insurance hikes because of those fines.

Dash Camera Fleets Dominate

The Fleet industry has radically changed as result of modern A.I. Enhanced Dash Camera systems, like those provided by Astreon, by improving driver security & safety, cost savings, improved driver coaching, and insurance benefits to your business.

Astreon provides a feature rich VMS (Video Management System) application with our A.I. Dash Camera systems, fully integrated into a unified fleet management platform, providing powerful yet easy to use management tools to your business.  Email alerts provide quick and simple management of inbound video incidents.  Additionally, A.I. Dash Cameras are excellent vehicle trackers.

Specialty Applications

Improved information format in exported Excel reports

We made the following changes in the excel reports;

  • Increased the font size
  • Removed the text in the final bottom line leaving only the total figures and measurement units

The exported report becomes user-friendly to give you clear images and organized reports.

Course Software calculation

We added a check for a valid course. Previously, if the unit sent the same course or did not send it at all, then the field cultivation overlaps were not calculated, and the user saw a 0% value. Now, in these scenarios, a check for a valid course will be performed, and if it is not available, the course will be calculated directly in Hecterra.

With this new option, overlaps in field cultivation will always be calculated correctly, even if the unit sends the wrong course or does not send it at all.

New Confirmation when Deleting an interval or service

When deleting service units (units, drivers, trailers) from the fleet, a new fail safe warning pops up to make sure you don’t accidentally delete something that may be needed in the future.

This new option prevents users from deleting units accidentally which are assigned to intervals and/or services.

Modification of display format of cost in reports

We changed the displayed format of cost in reports in the following ways;

  • Displayed 5.5K value à Now it displays as 5 500
  • Displayed 500000 à Now it displays as 500 000;
  • An integer will not be rounded to thousands and ten-thousandths; for example: previously, the value 5 was displayed as 5.000, and now it displays 5.
  • A decimal number will be rounded until the last digit is 0 (zero), for example: 123.450 = 123.45, 123.0 = 123.

With those changes, you can see the exact value in reports which helps you analyze the costs.

Separate display of Parts & Labour in Service Costs

The app users can create a detailed cost report. On the reports tab in the report type field, there are two options;

  • “By fleet line items”;
  • “By unit line items.”

Separate display of Parts & Labour in Service Costs

With this report, the user will be able to see the labor cost and the spare part’s name, type, number, cost, etc.

This information enables you to analyze which parts or services are the most in-demand in the fleet. Based on the reports, you can plan future costs and will lead to the reduction of fleet servicing costs.

Grouping reports by line items

We added the following new types of grouping:

  • “By line item”;
  • “By line item type”;
  • “By service”.

With these grouping types, your report can be more structured, and it helps you analyze costs in different angles.

Change the limit of values for custom fields with list type

We increased the limit of values in custom fields. Now users can add up to 20 fixed values in a custom field.

Improvements to the Custom Fields Tab

You can now change the field order by clicking and dragging them to re-order the sequence.  This makes it easier than ever to organize your driver’s orders.

These changes will show up in the Astreon Logistics Mobile app for the driver.

Improvements to the Custom Fields Tab

New Filter for displaying custom field in the mobile app

For mobile users, we added a filter for displaying a custom field in mobile application.

Thanks to this feature, the users can transfer the necessary delivery information to drivers. Please note that the mobile app user only can see the fields that are activated in the settings so you can classify which information is visible to mobile app users.

Custom fields in the order import tab

Now you can add the custom field you created in the settings of the template and the import tab. In the template, the fields with the drop-down list will include the columns’ names, where the column name is a custom field from the user’s settings.

Custom fields in the order import tab

Go into Settings, and check the Custom Fields section.  You can now identify which Custom Fields can be added to routes and orders.

This makes it so much easier to import order via Excel file, providing all the details that your business needs to leverage for Dispatch and Order distribution.

Canadian ELD Mandate

If you are in the logistics industry, you might be aware that the Canadian ELD (Electronic Logging Device) mandate will come into effect on June 12, 2021. You might think it’s too early to prepare for the ELD. However, according to Transport Canada, they said “There will be a 24-month implementation period. During this time, companies that make or supply devices should prepare their devices and software to meet the new requirements. After this, they will need to be tested and certified.” (Transport Canada)

In addition to the process of getting tested and certified, you also need to train your employees and drivers to adopt new rules and devices. Training will take time more than you expect. The faster you and your employees get used to the new rules, the more you receive benefits from the changes, such as reducing operation costs, increasing driver safety and productivity, and excellent back office management.

We added a Mileage column to all types of reports. The column shows the mileage of the unit track from the first to the last stop. The column shows 0 (zero) if a bus does not visit any stops or is parked for the period.

Grouping in reports

You can now group data in reports by

  • Unit
  • Field
  • Driver
  • Operation
  • Crop

Grouping in reports

With this new grouping capability, reports are easily generated, plus get relevant information quickly.

Please note that grouping is not set by default, so users need to set grouping criteria before generating a report.

Fuel Sensor Prioritization

You can now prioritize the order of fuel sensors if several similar sensors were installed on your vehicle or asset.  Traditionally values from multiple fuel sensors in a unit were summed up, as a result it was difficult to get detailed and more granular fuel sensor data.

By setting the priority of fuel sensors, you can obtain the exact value of the fuel spent from the specific fuel sensor.
